Today is a beautiful day, because it’s Valentine’s Day.

These days everyone complains about how this day is void of sentiment and purely for commercial reasons, and about the fact that shopping centres are packed with anxious consumers frantically searching for presents. However, I think it’s very important to have a day like this – a day where you can demonstrate your love and appreciation for the person who means the most to you.

 The reason for this is not because I’m going to tell you something you don’t already know, but because I intend to continue dedicating all my attention to you and you alone, so that you will always be certain of the love I feel for you.

The real reason this holiday is so important is that, in a rapidly changing world dominated by stress and anxiety, people need to be made aware of a simple yet fundamental aspect of life: the existence of love, the manifestation of love, the need to demonstrate affection and – why not – the special occasion of giving a small gift, such as flowers or chocolates, to a loved one.

Beautiful as these things are, I must state that the most beautiful thing of all about Valentine’s Day is the fact that I have the most amazing girlfriend/boyfriend in the world, and I every day I pray that you will be beside me for each and every Valentine’s Day until the day I die.

Please accept a loving kiss from the bottom of my heart. I miss you, and hope to spend the rest of my days by your side.

Aujourd’hui est un jour merveilleux, parce que c’est la Saint Valentin.

De nos jours, tout le monde se plaint de constater que ce jour est vide de sentiments et n’existe que pour de triviales raisons commerciales, et que les magasins sont pleins à craquer de consommateurs anxieux frénétiquement à la recherche de cadeaux. Néanmoins, je pense que c’est important d’avoir un jour comme celui-ci, un jour pour prouver son amour et son appréciation à la personne qui vous est la plus chère.

Je ne vais pas te dire ce que tu sais depuis longtemps déjà, mais j’ai la ferme intention de continuer à me dédier corps et âme à toi, et à toi seul/seule, que tu sois à jamais assuré/assurée de mon amour pour toi.

La véritable raison pour laquelle ce jour est si important est que dans ce monde qui change à la vitesse de la lumière, dominé par le stress et l’angoisse, les gens se doivent de se remémorer un aspect simple, mais absolument fondamental de la vie : l’existence de l’amour, son expression, le besoin de prouver son affection profonde, et, pourquoi pas, l’occasion unique d’offrir un petit cadeau, fleurs ou chocolats, à celui ou celle que l’on aime.

Aussi magnifiques que sont ces choses, je me dois d’insister sur le fait que la plus belle chose en ce jour de la Saint Valentin, c’est que je possède la plus exceptionnelle copine/le plus exceptionnel copain (girl/boy) du monde entier, et que je prie que tu sois à jamais et pour toujours à mes côtés chaque Saint Valentin, jusqu’à ce que la mort nous sépare.

Je te prie d’accepter ce baiser d’amour, qui vient du fin fond de mon cœur en sang. Tu me manques énormément, et j’espère passer le reste de mes jours à tes côtés.

heute ist ein wunderschöner Tag, denn es ist Valentinstag!

Heutzutage beschweren sich zwar viele, dass dieser Tag frei von Gefühlen sei und rein kommerziellen Interessen diene, sowie über die Tatsache, dass die Einkaufszentren voller verunsicherter Konsumenten sind, die krampfhaft nach Geschenken suchen. Ich denke aber, dass es sehr wichtig ist, einen solchen Tag zu haben – einen Tag, an dem man der Person, die einem am wichtigsten ist, seine Liebe und Zuneigung zeigen kann.

Ich schreibe nicht, um dir etwas zu mitzuteilen, was du nicht schon weißt, sondern weil ich dir, dir ganz allein, weiterhin all meine Aufmerksamkeit widmen möchte, damit du dir meiner Liebe immer sicher sein kannst.

In dieser schnelllebigen, von Sorgen und Stress geprägten Welt, ist dieser Feiertag so wichtig, um den Menschen einen einfachen aber wichtigen Aspekt unseres Lebens in Erinnerung zu rufen: die Existenz von Liebe mit ihren verschiedenen Ausdrucksformen, das Verlangen Zuneigung zu zeigen und zu einem besonderen Anlass, einem geliebten Menschen ein kleines Geschenk in Form einer Blume oder Schokolade zu überreichen.

So schön, wie diese Dinge auch sein mögen, so muss ich dennoch zugeben, dass das Allerschönste an Valentinstag die Gewissheit ist, den tollsten Freund/die tollste Freundin auf der Welt zu haben. Aan mijn liefste,

 Vandaag is een mooie dag omdat het Valentijnsdag is.

 Tijdens deze dag klaagt iedereen erover hoe weinig sentiment er over is van Valentijnsdag, dat het alleen maar om commerciële redenen gaat, en dat alle winkels vol zijn gestopt voor bezorgde consumenten die razend op zoek gaan naar cadeaus. Toch denk ik dat het heel belangrijk is om een dag zoals deze te hebben – een dag waarin je jouw liefde en waardering kan laten zien aan degene die het meest voor jou betekent.

 De reden hiervoor is niet omdat ik jou iets ga vertellen dat je niet al weet maar omdat ik van plan ben om al mijn aandacht aan jou te blijven geven, aan jou alleen, zodat je zeker bent van de liefde die ik voor je voel.

 De echte reden voor deze feestdag is zo belangrijk dat, in een snel veranderende wereld die wordt gedomineerd door stress en angst, het nodig is om mensen bewust te maken van een klein, maar basis principe van het leven: het bestaan van de liefde, de behoefte om affectie te laten zien – en waarom niet – een speciale gelegenheid om een klein cadeautje te geven aan iemand die je lief is zoals bloemen of chocola.

 Zo mooi als deze dingen zijn, moet ik zeggen dat het allermooiste aspect van Valentijnsdag het feit is  dat ik de geweldigste vriendin/vriend heb in de wereld en dat ik elke dag  hoop dat je alle Valentijnsdagen bij me bent tot de dag dat ik er niet meer ben.

 Alsjeblieft, accepteer een liefdevolle kus uit het diepste van mijn hard. Ik mis je en ik hoop dat ik de rest van mijn leven met jou aan mijn zijde kan doorbrengen.
